'Relatively Speaking' to close
'Relatively Speaking'"Relatively Speaking," the trio of Broadway one-acts by big-name scribes Woody Allen, Ethan Coen and Elaine May, will close at the end of the month.Show becomes the second to cut bait in the wake of the holiday B.O. boom (and ahead of the early-winter chill), following the recent announcement that struggling tuner "Lysistrata Jones" will close Sunday."Relatively Speaking" initially pulled in healthy sales for a play, which don't often log the razzle-dazzle numbers of crowdpleasing tuners. Since late November, however, box office has declined.Last week, during the high-traffic frame between Christmas and New Year's, the play pulled in about $450,000. So far the production has grossed $8.7 million since it began previews Sept. 20.Julian Schlossberg and Letty Aronson produce "Relatively Speaking" with co-producers Edward Walson, Leroy Schecter, Tom Sherak, Daveed D. Frazier and Roy Furman. Show shutters Jan. 29 at the Brooks Atkinson Theater. Contact Gordon Cox at gordon.cox@variety.com

Jessica Biel Finds Truth About Fishes
Joining Kaya ScodelarioSwitching in the large studio projects using the more compact indie fare has always appeared to become Jessica Biel's modus operandi. Fitting then, that Biel is going to be joining Kaya Scodelario in Emanuel And The Reality Regarding Fishes, following her sci-fi ass-kicking in Len Wiseman'sTotal Recall. As reported a week ago, Scodelario changed Rooney Mara within the drama that marks Francesca Gregorini's second directorial effort (following Tanner Hall). Early reviews says it comes down to a youthful girl who's obsessive about her neighbour because she bears an uncanny resemblance to her dead mother, and concurs to babysit stated neighbour's child, which works out to become a realistic toy.We are now hearing the neighbour's title is Linda, which the toy is really a surrogate, since Linda is coping with the emotional after-results of the dying of her daughter. Therefore it is less than the crazy Lars And Also The Real Girl-alike it initially made an appearance. Since Emanuel has lost a parent and Linda has lost a daughter, we are beginning to infer the film's emotional finish-point. Beginning yet though, so there is no real telling what may be available.Linda may be the role that Biel's in line for, even though she has not formally quite signed yet, she's apparently in "final talks". The script is Gregorini's own, and shooting most probably begins sometime early the coming year.

Prometheus Pre-Trailer Teaser Online
Plus some words from Ridley ScottThe studios are thoroughly spoiling us with trailers for their 2012 big-hitters this week. Anyone would think it was Christmas! We're promised a full trailer for Prometheus on Thursday (which might mean Friday for the UK, what with the time difference) but in the meantime, here's a trailer for the trailer over at iTunes. Some quick clips of Ridley Scott bigging up the project are interspersed with tantalising glimpses of... Actually, we won't even say. Go and have a look for yourselves. It doesn't take long.To tide us over until the end of the week though, the Icelandic site Filmophilia has a new interviewwith Sir Ridders, in which he reveals he's been shooting "the beginning of time" in Iceland, and that original conceptual Alien artist HR Giger has been involved in Prometheus at some level: "I brought him in, showed him what we were doing, showed him the story and he liked it a lot. So he's doing a little bit of work for me. He's been doing some murals, big murals, which we'll see in one of the first chambers we encounter when we land where we're gonna go..."Elsewhere [stop reading here if you don't want to learn too much] Scott discusses that "Alien DNA" he's been teasing since the project began. Reiterating a previous statement, he says that, "By the end of the third act, you start to realise there's a link to the first Alien, but none of the subsequent ones."By which he appears to mean The Space Jockey: "Yeah, so there you have that. I was always amazed that nobody ever asked who the hell The Space Jockey was, and why he was there.I sat thinking about this for a while and thought, well, there's a story! And the others missed it! So, here it is. I always figured that [the ship in the first Alien] was a carrier of weapons. Therefore, who is that, inside that suit? That wasn't a skeleton, that was a suit. And if you open up the suit, what do you get inside it? And where were they going, and why were they going there?"There are definitely, categorically no xenomorphs though. "The xenomorph did very well," laughs Ridley. "He survived; he's now in Disneyland in Orlando, and no way am I going back there. How did he end up in Disneyland? I saw him in Disneyland, Jesus Christ!"There's loads more at Filmophilia, including Ridley's personal theory of evolution. Prometheus, you won't need telling at this point, stars Michael Fassbender, Noomi Rapace, Charlize Theron, Guy Pearce and Idris Elba, and it's out in the UK next June. Check back later in the week for that full trailer...
